A Thoughtful Approach to Mental Health Arrives in South Miami

Uptown Psychology blends clinical expertise with a warm, modern therapy experience for students, young professionals, and families.

Coral Gables is a community built on connection between campus and city, work and home, independence and support. This month, Uptown Psychology opens its newest practice in Coral Gables, offering a warm, modern approach to therapy designed for students, young adults, and families navigating everyday life transitions.

Founded by psychologist Dr. Anne Josephson, Uptown Psychology brings years of experience supporting students, young professionals, and parents through moments of change. Moments like starting college, adjusting to a new city, building a career, or seeking a deeper understanding of oneself. With roots in New York City and a new presence in South Florida, Annie’s approach centers on helping people feel grounded, supported, and more connected to themselves and others.

“Many people come to therapy because they want a space to slow down and reflect,” Annie shares. “It’s an opportunity to better understand patterns, relationships, and emotions – while also reconnecting with what truly matters to them. It’s a time to build tools that support growth and well-being over time.”

Uptown Psychology specializes in evidence-based therapy for anxiety, mood concerns, OCD, relationship challenges, and adjustment-related stress, experiences that often arise during college years and early adulthood. Located just minutes from the University of Miami and several South Florida schools, the Coral Gables office is thoughtfully positioned to serve the local student population, young professionals and families seeking support that feels approachable and personalized.

Joining Annie in Miami are Scott Koenig, PsyD, and Diana Arce, a Licensed School Psychologist. Scott brings extensive experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, and couples. He offers a collaborative, down-to-earth style, helping clients navigate concerns related to self-esteem, relationships, academic life, and major life transitions.

In addition to his clinical work, Scott supports families navigating the special education process, serving as an educational advocate. He attends school meetings alongside parents and helps them better understand their child’s needs while ensuring they feel informed and supported every step of the way. His work emphasizes building insight, emotional awareness, and practical coping strategies in a supportive environment.

Diana specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, with particular expertise in comprehensive psychoeducational assessments and social skills groups. As a licensed school psychologist in Florida, she supports families navigating anxiety, learning differences, school transitions, and developmental milestones.

Her evaluations provide parents with a clear understanding of their child’s cognitive and academic profile, helping guide informed decisions around next steps. She works with both students who may be struggling—when families are unsure of the right educational path—as well as those seeking assessment for gifted programs. Her approach blends evidence-based evaluation with warmth, helping clients build confidence, self-advocacy skills, and meaningful tools for growth.

Meet the Team
Dr. Annie Josephson, Psychologist & Founder
Annie is passionate about helping students, young adults, and parents feel more connected and confident in their lives. With years of experience practicing in New York City, she brings a thoughtful, evidence based approach, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In sessions, she balances insight with practical evidence based tools. Outside of her clinical work, Annie values community, collaboration, and creating spaces where people feel understood and supported.

Scott Koenig, PsyD, Psychologist
Scott works closely with adolescents, college students, and adults, supporting clients through life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional growth. He values a collaborative therapy process and strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences and building skills they can use beyond the therapy room. In addition, Scott provides educational advocacy services, supporting families throughout their child’s academic journey, from early childhood through high school and into college. He works directly with school teams to secure tailored academic supports, school placement, and testing accommodations. His role centers on navigating school-based decision-making and ensuring each student has the tools and services needed to reach their fullest potential in and beyond the classroom.

Diana Arce, ED.S, Licensed School Psychologist
Diana works with children and families seeking a deeper understanding of their child’s overall development, including learning, behavioral, cognitive, adaptive, and executive functioning strengths and challenges. She provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for families who may feel unsure of the best path forward, offering clarity across areas such as attention, developmental delays, and autism, in addition to academic needs.

Her approach is warm, thorough, and highly personalized, ensuring each child is seen and understood as an individual. In addition to supporting children who may be struggling, she also works with families who believe their child may be gifted and are seeking evaluation to determine the most appropriate educational placement. To better accommodate busy families, Diana also offers weekend availability.
